Wednesday 27th March saw the continuation of the BRS volunteer program with the Aisling Project. The Aisling Project is an after school initiative in the Ballymun area for children deemed at risk. It provides homework supervision, a hot meal and after school activities to help in the child’s development. The Aisling also provides a safe place for these children and works individually with each child to ensure their developmental needs are being met.
In 2017, an initial outreach with the Aisling Project was set up by Kim Connick and this year saw volunteer officers Molly Williams and Niamh Bookey continue this work. Alongside members of the BRS, we ran multiple science experiments with the kids of Poppintree ranging from DNA extractions to bouncing bubbles. The kids and Aisling volunteers were enthusiastic about the experiments and can’t wait to have us back!
We look forward to continuing this brilliant work by visiting other Aisling Project centres later this year!
